2015 Season Stats
EL PASO, Texas - No. 19 ranked Arizona State swept UTEP in a two-game set on Tuesday night at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex.
The Sun Devils (27-12) won game one, 12-1, in five innings, while the Miners (10-29) rallied late in game two, falling 13-11 after being down 12-2.
"We focused better in game two," second-year head coach Tobin Echo-Hawk said. "The last couple of games we let outside things and things that we can't control take our attention away from what were doing. We have to quit worrying about the things that are out of our control and do your job. We did a much better job doing that the second game. Our still can be better, but offensively we did what we needed to. We scored a lot of runs against a top 25 team."

Arizona State scored six runs in the sixth frame to take a commanding 12-2 lead. But UTEP scored five runs during the bottom half, and another four in the seventh inning to make things interesting.
Hope Moreno led off with her second home run of the season, a solo shot down the leftfield line, to start the sixth inning rally. Kaitlin Ryder scored on a Kiki Pepi single through the left side, making the score 12-4.
With Pepi and Jade Rodriguez on, Kawehiokalani Netane avoided another run-rule game, as the junior connected on a moon shot to right field to get within five runs (12-7).
Arizona State got one of the runs back though, as Haley Steele hit a solo home run to center. But Erika Harrawood was able to retire the next three of four hitters to get out of the top half of the seventh.
During the home half, Taylor Sargent led off with a single up the middle, following with Moreno being hit by a pitch, and Ryder drawing a walk to load the bases for Tahla Wade with one out. The senior doubled to left field, plating Sargent and Moreno, making the score 13-9. Pepi followed with a double of her own to deep center, scoring Wade and Ryder to bring the Miners within two runs.
After a Netane strikeout, Ashley Eldridge singled to short, advancing Pepi to third. Courtney Clayton came to the plate as the game-winning run, but Sun Devils' pitcher Breanna Macha forced Clayton into a fielder's choice as Eldridge was throw out at second.
Pepi finished 3-for-4 with a run scored and three RBI, setting career highs in a UTEP uniform for hits and RBI. Pepi had four hits and five RBI against Stanford as a freshman at Oregon State last season.
Netane hit her seventh home run of the season on a 1-for-3, three-RBI performance. She's tied with Eldridge for the team lead. Ryder finished 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored.
Breanna Media, who came into pinch hit for Rodriguez in the sixth, connected on her first collegiate hit - an infield single. Erica Chasco and Rodriguez each added a knock.
UTEP finished with 13 hits in the second contest. It's the fourth time in 2015 the Miners have recorded a 13-hit game. The season high for hits is 14 versus Colorado State.
