EL PASO, Texas- The UTEP rifle team was upended by Jacksonville State, 4673-4596, at the UTEP Rifle Range Sunday. The Miners recorded 2266 in smallbore before firing their second-best air rifle score (2330) of the season.
"The team accomplished several goals throughout the weekend and achieved 11 individual personal records," UTEP head coach Hannah Muegge said. "We're looking forward to taking this momentum into this upcoming weekend as we travel to Colorado for our upcoming conference championships. The team has one more opportunity to get in another successful match before wrapping up our regular season."

Sophomore
Bailey Powell produced a team-high aggregate of 1165. She got things going with a 575 in smallbore before adding a 590 in air rifle.

Abby Monique registered a season-high tying aggregate of 1155, with a 567 in smallbore and career-best 588 in air rifle.

Freshman
Jessica Boyce notched an aggregate of 1144. She shot a career-high 570 in smallbore and a 574 in air rifle.

Maranda Nelson checked in with an aggregate of 1128. She posted a 554 in smallbore and 574 in air rifle.

Samantha Miller recorded an aggregate of 1123, finishing with 545 in smallbore and a personal-best tying 578 in air rifle.

UTEP will return to action with a triangular-match vs. Alaska Fairbanks and Air Force in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday. The Miners will then switch their focus to the Patriot Rifle Championships (Feb. 3-4).
