UTEP Volleyball Falls in Final Match of Season

SAN ANTONIO, Texas –
The UTEP volleyball team (5-21, 2-12 C-USA) falls to UTSA (19-7, 11-3 C-USA) in three sets (15-25, 21-25, 21-25), on Sunday afternoon.
 
Macey Austin registered 11 kills in the match and in the second set made her way into the UTEP record books. The junior became only the 10th player in program history to record 1,000 kills in a career.
 
The Roadrunners jumped out to a 10-5 lead early on in the first set, seizing control on their home court. UTSA rode the momentum on Senior Day to a first set victory, 25-15.
 
UTEP and UTSA traded punches early in the second set, with 12 ties and a 19-19 score. The set featured long rallies and excellent play from both sides. A late 6-1 run by the Roadrunners helped give them the cushion necessary to take the set, 25-21.
 
The Miners found themselves behind 12-7 in the third set forcing a timeout. Out of the break UTEP recorded a 5-0 run tying the set up at 12-12. Once again the two teams found themselves knotted up at 19-19. The Roadrunners found a way to close out the surging Miners, 25-21.
