EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP rifle team (4583) put the finishing touches on the fall part of its schedule in a home match against Air Force (4674) at the UTEP rifle range Saturday. The Miners recorded 2257 in smallbore before getting on track to fire 2326 in air rifle. The effort in air was three points shy of a campaign high.

It marked UTEP's second match in three days.

"Mental and physical fatigue plays a huge role in performance," UTEP head coach
Austin Litherland said. "Even with that fatigue, we were still able to shoot our average. To me that shows growth. The team will now have a break and will come back strong and focused to perform for next semester."

Sophomore
Jessica Boyce led the way for the Miners with an aggregate of 1152. She registered 568 in smallbore and a squad-high 584 in air rifle. Junior
Mara Rouse produced an aggregate of 1146, finishing with 563 in smallbore and 583 in air rifle (one shy of season high)

Freshman
Morgahn Warner tallied an aggregate of 1145, shooting a team-best 569 in smallbore and 576 in air rifle. Senior
Maranda Nelson compiled an aggregate of 1136, relying on a 557 in smallbore and 579 in air rifle.

Sophomore
Samantha Miller recorded an aggregate of 1133, notching 553 in smallbore and 580 in air rifle (second-best career score). Freshman
Josephine John finished with an aggregate of 1107, scoring 553 in smallbore and 554 in air rifle.

The Miners will be idle until the spring semester, returning to the range at home on Jan. 26 against TCU at 8:30 a.m.
