EL PASO, Texas- The UTEP rifle team was upended by Nevada, 4644-4610, in its NCAA Qualifier match at the UTEP rifle range Saturday. The Miners posted their highest air rifle score of the season (2341), which was only three points behind the Wolf Pack. Overall UTEP's aggregate score rated as its third-best effort of the campaign.

"I'm very proud of our performance today as the team showed their true potential," UTEP head coach
Hannah Muegge said. "Today's match was the match where we needed to come together and perform as a team, and we achieved just that. This has been an exciting season for us as the team has accomplished so much, both, individually and as a team. Finishing on a high note was a great ending to our season."

The NCAA Qualifier was also the 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Sectional Match which gave out individual awards for air rifles and smallbore. In air rifle
Bailey Powell won first place (591), followed by Nevada's Mitchell Van Patten (588) and Justin Nissen (587). In smallbore it went Nissen (575), Nevada's Emily Capaul (575-25x) and
Abby Monique (575-20x).

Powell fired a team-high aggregate of 1160. She started the day with a 569 in smallbore before adding the aforementioned 591 in air rifle.

The sophomore Monique registered an aggregate of 1154. She notched a 575 in smallbore and a 579 in air rifle.

Freshman
Jessica Boyce recorded an aggregate of 1149. She shot a 563 in smallbore and 586 in air rifle. The 586 was one point shy of her season high.

Sophomore
Mara Rouse finished with an aggregate of 1147. She tallied a 562 in smallbore and a season-high 585 in air rifle.

Junior
Maranda Nelson posted an aggregate of 1123, using a 546 in smallbore and a 577 in air rifle.

Freshman
Samantha Miller produced an aggregate of 1122. She secured a 550 in smallbore and a 572 in air rifle.
