Miners Fire 2249 In Smallbore At Patriot Rifle Conference Championships

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.- The UTEP rifle team shot a score of 2249 in smallbore on the opening day of action at the 2018 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships. The air rifle portion of the championships will be held Sunday.
 
TCU (2320), Air Force (2309), Alaska Fairbanks (2300), Ohio State (2299) and Nevada (2296) shared the range with the Miners.  
 
Sophomore Abby Monique led the way for the Miners by firing a 567. Freshman Jessica Boyce was close behind, finishing with a score of 566.  
 
Bailey Powell, who missed Friday's triangular match due to an illness, returned to the range to shoot a 562.
 
Junior Maranda Nelson registered a total of 554 while sophomore Mara Rouse checked in at 553 and freshman Samantha Miller recorded a 549.
 
The Miners will be wrap up action at the 2018 Patriot Rifle Conference Championships by shooting the air rifle portion of the league's pinnacle event on Sunday.
