FAU Pulls Away Late from UTEP

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic (15-13, 3-0 C-USA) pulled away late to down UTEP (10-16, 0-3 Conference USA) 8-0 [5] on Tuesday afternoon at FAU Softball Stadium.
 
The Owls went up 2-0 early in the first inning when Tatum Buckley drove in two runs on a one-out double hit to left center. Samantha Lageyre singled and Emily Lochten drew a walk to set up Buckley's RBI opportunity.
 
Lageyre gave the Owls a 3-0 lead in the fourth.
 
FAU starting pitcher kept UTEP's bats silent until the fifth inning when pinch-hitter Lindsey Sokoloski and Pamala Baber used back-to-back singles to put runners on board with the score 3-0. Ilena Santos then advanced her teammates with a sac-bunt to put the runners in scoring position, but the Miners couldn't sustain more offense to put runs on the board.
 
Kelsey Morrison put the game away with a three-run home run during the fifth and Lochten drove in the game-winning runs on a single.
