Amusan Claims Gold at the African Championships

EL PASO – Former Miner Tobi Amusan claimed Nigeria's first gold medal at the 2018 African Senior Championships on Thursday.
 
The hurdler cruised passed the competition posting a winning time of 12.86 in the women's 100m hurdles. Rikenette Steenkamp of South Africa took second (13.18) and Rosvitha Okou finished third (13.39).
 
Emmanuel Korir represented Kenya in the men's 800m and notched a first-place finish in the second heat with a time of 1:46.92. Kenya swept all three heats with Ferguson Rotich (1:48.19), Korir and Jonathan Kitilit (1:46.55).
 
Korir will run in the 800m final tomorrow afternoon.
