EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP tennis team (4-11) will play two matches in as many days, locking up at Northern Arizona (5-8) at 3 p.m. MT Saturday and facing Portland State (2-7) in Flagstaff, Ariz., at 10 a.m. MT Sunday.

The Miners have been idle since falling at Houston, 6-1, on March 20. UTEP had played three times in four days, including the setback against the Cougars, before the 10-day hiatus. The Orange and Blue will be vying for their second road victory of the season, having previously bested SFA, 4-2, in Nacogdoches, Texas, on March 17.

Freshman Kirsten Prelle, who missed the match at Houston, has been the top performer on the season for the Miners. She sports an overall record of 17-8, including 8-5 in dual action. Sophomore Erandi Martinez is on the cusp of hitting double-digit victories for the year while she rates second on the squad in dual triumphs (five).

Freshman Kathleen Percegona and senior Yvette Van Oijen, who both have only competed in the spring, follow with four dual wins while Vanessa Valdez has three. Most recently Valdez posted a three-set, come-from-behind win against Ndindi Ndunda of Houston.

Valdez and Van Oijen have teamed up to produce a squad-best six dual wins in doubles action (6-5). Percegona and Prelle (5-4) are also above .500 in doubles dual play. Martinez and Rine Nozaki have combined to taste victory four times in the spring.

Following the matches in Flagstaff, the Miners will wrap up the regular season with three home matches. UTEP will challenge Boise State (10 a.m., April 5), UT Tyler (12 p.m., April 6) and NM State (2 p.m., April 13).
