Trio of Miners Set PRs at the Boston U Sharon Colyear-Danville

BOSTON, Mass. – UTEP's Daniel Bernal, Ruth Jerubet and Victor Kibiego got early head starts on the 2023 indoor season by setting personal records in the 5000-meter events at the 2022 Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at the Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Mass., on Saturday afternoon. 
 
Bernal clocked in a 13:52.79, breaking his previous best of 14:05.38 at the Husky Classic in Seattle in 2020 while competing at Furman. For Bernal, it was his first career indoor event as a Miner.
 
Jerubet clocked in a 16:55.47. Her previous best was a 16:59.43 at the 2022 Conference USA Indoor Championships.
 
Kibiego clocked in a 14:08.51. surpassing his previous best time of 14:22.90 at the 2022 C-USA Indoor Track & Field Championships.
 
The Miners will move into full competition on Jan. 14, 2023 at the Texas Tech Corky Classic in Lubbock. 
 
The remainder of the Sharon Colyear-Danville will conclude Sunday.
