UTEP Rifle Set for Conference Championships

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP rifle team will compete this weekend in the Patriot Rifle Conference Championships, Feb. 5-6 in Colorado Springs, Colo. The Miners will shoot smallbore on Saturday (Feb. 5) and air rife on Sunday (Feb. 6). The competition begins at 8 a.m. MT each day. Live scoring will be available at MegaLink. 
 
UTEP will be split up with two shooters in three relays for Saturday's smallbore competition and will shoot together for Sunday's air rifle competition. 
 
"We are excited to be competing with conference his weekend," head coach Austin Litherland said. "It is nice seeing all the teams and athletes compete together again. We have been working hard on focusing on our mental game and on any areas we were struggling in. We will go up and make every shot count!" 
 
Last Match Recap 
The Miners registered an aggregate of 4546, just behind Air Force (4715) and posted a 2255 in smallbore and a 2291 in air rifle. Isabel Brooks led the team with an aggregate of 1160 while Amoret McCartney ranked second for the campaign with an aggregate of 1135.
