UTEP XC’s Kibiego Places 44th, Cheruiyot 58th at the XC Championships

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – UTEP cross country's Victor Kibiego finished 44th and Titus Cheruiyot placed 58that the 2023 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships hosted by the University of Virginia at Panorama Farms Cross Country Course on Saturday morning. 
 
Kibiego, in only his second season, clocked in a 29:57.0 in the men's 10k event. The sophomore sensation competed in his second consecutive NCAA Championship, improving on his finish after a 102nd place showing (30:12.7).
 
Cheruiyot concludes his cross country career at UTEP with a 30:07.1. The senior made a big improvement from his first appearance during his freshman year – 152nd (32:21.3). 
 
"Victor and Titus both ran a very gutsy and courageous race. They put themselves in a good position throughout the race and gave it their all against the best in the country." UTEP associate head cross country coach Mircea Bogdan said. "I'm so proud of them and how well they have represented us, not just today but the whole season. They are a true inspiration to me and everyone at UTEP. This was their best performance at the national meet by far. Now onto track, we look forward to that."
 
Harvard junior Graham Blanks (28:37.7) won the men's individual championship, while New Mexico freshman Habtom Samuel (28:40.7) finished second and Stanford's Ky Robinson (28:55.7) was third. No. 2 Oklahoma State men's team (49 points) won the team title, followed by no. 1 NAU (71) and no. 3 BYU (196). 
 
On the women's side, Florida junior Parker Valby won the individual title, while the no. 2 NC State women won the team championship.
