Miners Back in the Borderland to Host North Alabama

EL PASO, Texas –
The UTEP women's basketball program returns to the Don Haskins Center Sunday (11/26) to host North Alabama. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. MT. The Miners are looking to bounce back after a tough trip to the Sunshine State.

PREVIOUSLY ON…
UTEP fell to 3-3 on the year after a pair of losses to Lamar and TCU at the St. Pete Showcase in St. Petersburg Florida. The Miners had shooting struggles in both games, shooting 28.8 percent against the Cardinals and 33.9 percent against the Horned Frogs. The Orange and Blue out rebounded TCU (40-39) and held the advantage in FT% (71.4% to 50.0%). Erin Wilson earned a spot on the tournament All-Star team for her performances, averaging 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.  
 
Double-Double queen
Jane Asinde has three double-doubles in five games for the Miners. She is averaging 18.4 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. Asinde ranks first in CUSA and eighth in the nation in double-doubles. She has tallied 44 career double-doubles, including 23 at the Division I level.
 
IN THE RANKS
Jane Asinde is currently ranked in the top 50 nationally in six categories. Aside from the double-doubles, she leads Conference USA and is 15th nationally in defensive rebounds per game (8.0), is first in the league and 18th in the country in rebounds (54) and is second in CUSA and 22nd in the NCAA for rebounds per game (10.8). She also sits second in the conference and 34th in the nation in free throws (24). Finally, she leads the conference and ranks 43rd in the country in field goal attempts (78).
 
DROPPING DIMES
Delma Zita has served up a team-high 28 assists this season, which puts her second in the league and 31st in the NCAA. Her 5.6 assists per game leads CUSA and sits 33rd nationally.
 
CONSISTENCY IS KEY
Erin Wilson has been one of the most consistent players for the Miners this season. She is averaging 11.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game (fourth in CUSA). Wilson has scored at least 10 points in all but one game so far this season and has grabbed at least six boards in every contest. She leads the team in offensive rebounds with 25 and ranks second in total rebounds with 52 (second CUSA).
 
FEELIN' FINE AT THE FOUL LINE
The Miners outperformed both Lamar and TCU at the charity stripe, shooting 68.8 percent and 71.4 percent, respectively. Aaliyah Stanton led all Miners with 100 percent (3-3) followed by Jane Asinde shooting 88.9 percent (8-9). Erin Wilson hit a solid 75 percent (6-8), and Adhel Tac shot 66.7 percent (2-3).
 
SCOUTING NORTH ALABAMA
The Lions are 2-3 this season. They are shooting 39.3 percent from the floor, 31.1 percent from three, and 76.0 percent from the foul line. North Alabama is led by Alexis Callins with 15.6 points per game. Alyssa Clutter (8.6 ppg), Rhema Pegues (8.0 ppg), Emily Jones (6.4 ppg), and Chloe Siegel (5.8 ppg) round out the top-five scorers for the Lions. Sara Wohlgemuth is pacing the team in rebounds with 4.6 per game, followed by Clutter, Pegues, and India Howard, who are averaging 3.8 each. Wohlgemuth leads the team in assists with 6.4 per game while Clutter has racked up a team-high 11 steals. Pegues paces the Lions in blocks with four.
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE LIONS
This will be the first time the Miners face off against the Lions.
