UTEP Women’s Hoops Inks Latvian Player Krista Lukasevica

EL PASO – UTEP women's basketball head coach Keitha Adams announced the signing of Krista Lukasevica on Friday.

Lukasevica, a native of Riga, Latvia, will play her first collegiate season in 2026-27.

Member of the U16, U18, and U20 National Teams … will be playing this summer with the U20 European Championship … part of the U20 national team that got a silver medal at the European Championship … at the 2022 FIBA U16 Women's European Championship, averaged 8.6 ppg and 12.7 rpg … tallied 20 points and 18 rebounds against Greece and recorded 10 points and 13 boards against Belgium at the U16 European Championship … part of Latvian National team U18 first place in the Baltic Cup … made final roster this spring for the senior national team in Japan competition … averaged 10.7 ppg and 7.2 rpg with the best team in Latvia TTT Riga last year.

Adams on Lukasevica: "We had some great players from Latvia on our team here at UTEP and we are looking forward to adding another very good player and great character person in Krista. She is a very talented post player with great international experience representing her home country in multiple FIBA youth tournaments. She will be bringing her rebounding skills and scoring around the basket to our team. We are very excited about her joining our program."
