DALLAS – UTEP cross country's Titus Cheruiyot, Ruth Jerubet and Juan Olmos were named to the 2023 Conference USA Cross Country All-Academic Team on Tuesday as announced by league officials.

Cheruiyot and Olmos were named to the men's team, and Jerubet to the women's side after stellar seasons on the course.

Cheruiyot maintained a 3.25 GPA in Aerospace & Aeronautical Engineering. The senior competed in seven events and is coming off a 58th-place finish (30:07.1) at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in the 10k on Nov. 18 in Charlottesville, Va. Prior, he placed 13th (29:20.8) on Mountain Regionals in Lubbock, Texas on Nov. 10. The product of Kapsabet, Kenya, made his way back to the NCAAs after competing for the first time in 2019 as a freshman. He was also an All-CUSA first team member after placing second (22:42.3) in the 8k at the conference championships in Bowling Green, Ky., on Oct. 28. Cheruiyot balanced life in the classroom and on the road, making the CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll a trio of times.

For Olmos, it's his second consecutive season being named all-academic. The junior from El Paso has sustained a perfect 4.00 GPA in Kinesiology. Olmos is also a two-time CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medalist and made the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll on a pair of occasions. On the course, Olmos was named All-CUSA third team after placing 21st with a personal-best 24:28.8 in the 8k at the conference championships. Olmos competed at his first Mountain Regionals (34:18.0 in the 10k) in Lubbock.

Jerubet joins Olmos as a back-to-back honoree as she was named a '22 CUSA All-Academic honoree. The native of Kapsabet recently competed at Mountain Regionals with a 78th-place finish (21:51.8) in the 6k in Lubbock. The junior was named All-CUSA first team after a fourth-place showing in the 6k (21:51.8) at the conference championships. Jerubet opened the season with a four-place finish at the Lori Fitzgerald in the 5k with a 17:56.7. She followed that with a second-place effort in the 6k (22:33.5) at the Texas Tech Open.
