EL PASO – The No. 16 UTEP Rifle team fired a 4667 aggregate Saturday afternoon at the UTEP Rifle Range, narrowly falling to No. 17 Jacksonville State, who finished with a 4675 aggregate. UTEP's score was buoyed by a solid performance in both disciplines, with the Miners shooting 2304 in smallbore and 2363 in air rifle.
Carlee Valenta was the top shooter of the entire match, finishing with an impressive 1173 aggregate score. Valenta also led the match in smallbore, continuing her standout season.
Kameron Wells followed closely behind with a 1167 aggregate, highlighted by a personal-best and school-record 598 in air rifle, surpassing the previous record of 597 set by Bailey Powell on November 13, 2016.
Other strong performances came from Amy Visconti (1163 aggregate), Isabella Rios (1162 aggregate), and Julia Czernik (1151 aggregate), who had an all-around personal record in smallbore, air rifle, and aggregate scores. Holly Visconti shot a 1151 aggregate, Xan Keel finished with a 1149, and Paige Hildebrandt rounded out the team with a 1148 aggregate score.
