EL PASO – No. 16 UTEP Rifle delivered a sensational performance on Sunday morning at the UTEP Rifle Range, outshooting No. 17 Jax State 4677-4674. The victory was highlighted by a school-record-breaking performance in air rifle, with the Miners registering a team-high 2370 in the discipline, marking the second time this season the team has set a school record.
UTEP fired a 2307 in smallbore, with standout performances across the board. Carlee Valenta led the match in aggregate with a score of 1176 and set a personal best in air rifle with a 594, which also secured her the top spot in the discipline. Isabella Rios followed closely with an impressive 1175 aggregate, setting personal records in both smallbore and aggregate scores.
Additionally, Xan Keel tied her personal best in air rifle, contributing to the Miners' record-breaking effort.
Kameron Wells and Amy Visconti were the other Miners to shoot both disciplines, with Wells finishing with a 1163 aggregate and Visconti shooting a 1156 aggregate.
