COLUMBUS, Ohio – The No. 16 UTEP rifle team shattered their school record for the second straight week, posting a remarkable 4685 aggregate score during a tri-match against No. 4 Murray State and No. 8 Ohio State on Saturday. The Miners fired a 4355 air rifle and season-best smallbore (4330).
UTEP's performance placed them third in the tri-match behind Murray State, who led with a 4713 aggregate, and Ohio State, which recorded a 4697. This marks the fourth consecutive week that the Miners have surpassed their previous aggregate marks.
Carlee Valenta spearheaded the Miner lineup with an outstanding 1177 aggregate, marking a personal best and solidifying her place in the match's top 10 overall standings. Kameron Wells followed closely with a personal-high 1176, while Amy Visconti added a strong 1169 to the team's efforts. Isabella Rios (1160), Holly Visconti (1158), Xan Keel (1157), Paige Hildebrandt (1149), and Julia Czernik (1131) rounded out the lineup.
TOP 10 MATCH FINISHES
Smallbore: Visconti secured 3rd place, Valenta took 8th, and Wells finished 10th.
Air Rifle: Wells and Valenta both placed in the top five, with Wells in 4th and Valenta in 5th.
Aggregate: Valenta and Wells clinched 5th and 6th overall, respectively.
Six Miners registered personal bests, with Valenta and Wells highlighting the day with all-around personal-high performances.
