– The UTEP women's basketball team (4-3) faces off at Utah Tech Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT as part of the WAC/CUSA partnership. The Miners are looking to break a two-game skid against the Trailblazers.

LAST WEEK ON...
UTEP slipped to 4-2 following an 81-68 loss to BYU on Dec. 5. The Miners shot 36.8 percent (21-57) from the field, 38.9 percent (7-18) from three, and 76.0 percent (19-25) from the charity stripe. They pulled down 32 rebounds, dished out 14 assists, tallied four steals and three blocks in the contest. Ivane Tensaie paced the Miners with 21 points, including five made threes. Luisa Vydrova added 14 points. Ndack Mbengue recorded a career high in both points (14) and rebounds (11) while also leading the team in blocks (two). Delma Zita registered team-highs in assists (six) and steals (two).
 
TENSAIE FOR THREEEEE!
Ivane Tensaie is averaging 4.14 three pointers per game, ranking her first in the NCAA in the category. She is shooting 48.3 percent (29-60) from distance this season, which is good for 17th in the nation.
 
DOUBLE DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Ndack Mbengue earned her first Division I double-double (14 points, 11 rebounds) against BYU. She led the field on the glass and drained six free throws in the process.
 
GET THAT OUTTA HERE!
Ndack Mbengue matched her career high with a team-high two blocks against the Pilots.
 
SPLASH
Ivane Tensaie hit three shots form downtown against Portland, continuing her streak of making at least three three-pointers in every contest this season. Additionally, she has scored in double-figures in all seven games, including two with 20 points or more.
 
DISHING IT OUT
Delma Zita recorded seven assists against Portland. She is averaging 5.4 assists per game, and has tallied six or more in four of the last five contests.
 
DYNAMIC DUO
The European post pair of Luisa Vydrova and Dunja Zecevic posted 10 points apiece against the Pilots. It marks Vydrova's third straight game with 10 or more points and Zecevic's third of the 2024-25 campaign.
 
HOW MAY WE ASSIST YOU
UTEP has earned 96 assists on 169 made shot attempts in 2024-25 (56.8 percent). Delma Zita is responsible for 38 of those assists (39.6 percent of all assists)
 
FEELIN' FINE AT THE FOUL LINE
The Miners shot 80.0 percent (12-15) from the line against Portland, marking their highest FT% of the season.
 
ON TARGET
Five UTEP players are shooting 50.0 percent or better from the floor in 2024 (minimum 10 shots attempted). Mary Moses Amaniyo paces the team at 53.3 percent, followed by Luisa Vydrova (52.9), Ndack Mbengue (51.9), Dunja Zecevic (51.4), and Osadebamwen Igbinedion Omoruyi (50.0)
 
FOOT ON THE GAS
The Miners shot 44.6 percent (25-56) from the field against the Pilots, marking the fifth game this season that the team has averaged above a 40.0 FG%.
 
SHARP SHOOTING
UTEP has made at least five threes in every contest this year, including a season-best nine against UTSA (11/16/24).
 
INTERNATIONAL LOVE
The Miners have 10 international players on their 2024-25 roster. That is the second most in Division I, behind South Florida with 11.
 
SCOUTING REPORT: UTAH TECH
The Trailblazers are 4-6 on the season, averaging 71.0 points, 39.2 rebounds, and 15.1 assists per game. They are shooting 38.4 percent from the field, 31.3 percent from three, and 64.8 percent from the foul line. Chardonnay Hartley paces the team with 14.4 points per game, followed by Aaliyah Ibarra (13.6) and Emily Isaacson (12.1). Isaacson pulls down a team-high 5.7 rebounds per contest, with Brie Crittendon close behind at 5.0. Isaacson also leads the Trailblazers with 1.9 steals per game while Hartley dishes out a whopping 6.9 assists per game. Nicole Willarson tops the teams in blocks at 0.7. Nationally, Utah Tech ranks third in three point attempts per game (33.2), eighth in three pointers per game (10.4), 58th in defensive rebounds per game (28.1), 61st in steals per game (10.5), and 68th in bench points per game (25.6). Individually, multiple players are ranked in the top 100 in the NCAA. Hartley sits fifth in assists per game (6.9), 23rd in made free throws (47) 47th in double-doubles (three), 76th in field goal attempts (132), and 79th in assist/turnover ratio (2.09). Isaacson ranks 78th in total threes (22) and 86th in three point percentage (40.7).
 
SERIES HISTORY WITH THE TRAILBLAZERS
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Miners and Trailblazers.
 
FAST FORWARD
Following Saturday's contest against the Trailblazers, UTEP will head to Fort Collins, Colo. to face off against Colorado State on Monday (12/16). Tipoff is slated for 6:30 p.m. MT. The next chance to see the Miners in action at home is Dec. 19 when they welcome Arkansas-Pine Bluff to the Don Haskins Center.
