DALLAS – The UTEP track and field team took home three Conference USA weekly awards as Xavier Butler (male freshman of the week), Arianne Morais (female field athlete of the week) and Rejoice Sule (female track athlete and female freshman of the week) received those honors on Tuesday as announced by league officials. The CUSA weekly awards are presented by Blenders Eyewear.

Butler, in his first collegiate outdoor 200-meter dash, clocked in a 20.83 (+2.2) and finished in second place at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open on April 19. The freshman also won the men's 100 with a 10.23 (+2.7). Butler ranks no. 3 in the 100 with a 10.21 (+3.1) in CUSA, and ranks fourth in the 200 with a converted time of 20.90. For Butler, it's his second weekly outdoor freshman honor and his fifth overall of the indoor/outdoor season.

Morais hurled a season-best 57.26 meters (187-10) in the women's javelin throw elite for back-to-back titles at the 64th Annual Mt. SAC Relays in Hilmer Lodge Stadium on April 18. Morais hit the mark on her third attempt. It was the senior's second victory of the campaign but most importantly her best throw of the season. Morais finished ahead of UCLA's Federica Botter who posted 57.22 meters (187-8). Morais leads CUSA and ranks third nationally in the women's javelin throw. It's Morais's second weekly honor during the outdoor season after receiving one on March 19.

Sule clocked in a 23.10 (+2.5) with a first-place finish in the women's 200-meter dash at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open on April 19. Sule topped her time of 23.59 (+2.7) which had ranked fourth in CUSA heading into the weekend. Sule now ranks second in CUSA with a converted time of 23.17. It's Sule's first weekly honor of her career.
