TEXAS RELAYS: DAY 2 RESULTS, DAY 3 PROGRAM | BOBCAT INVITE: DAY 1 RESULTS

AUSTIN/SAN MARCOS, Texas – UTEP wrapped up day one of competition with a podium finish and three personal bests at the 98th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Mike A. Myers Stadium and at the Bobcat Invitational in Texas State Track & Field Complex on Thursday night.

Andres Gurrola capped the evening with a personal-best 30:58.81 and a third-place finish of 11 competitors in the men's 10,000-meter under the lights at the Texas Relays. Gurrola's previous best time was 31:07.28 at last year's Texas Relays while competing with UT Arlington. It was also his highest career finish in the event.

"It was a good first day of competition for us across both the Texas Relays and the Bobcat Invite. We had two personal best performances, highlighted by Zach in the 100 meters and Andres closing out the night in the 10,000 meters with a big PR of 30:58.81. That's a strong effort, especially to finish the day the way he did," first-year UTEP head coach Francesca Green said. "Overall, it was a solid start for our group and a good step forward as we continue to build momentum this season."

A pair of Miners also added personal bests in the men's 200-meter dash at the Bobcat Invitational, as Zacarias Velasquez clocked in at 11.00 (-0.1) and Joshua Ford a 10.77 (0.7). Ford finished 18th of 42 competitors.

Arion Hill started the day for the Miners in San Marcos, as the freshman turned in a 14.51 (1.7) in his first collegiate 110-meter hurdles event. Hill was seventh of 18 sprinters.

At the Texas relays, Samahri Foster clocked in a 1:03.16 in the women's 400-meter hurdles, placing 12th of 29 hurdlers.

Also at the Texas Relays, Kalix Robinson posted a time of 55.49 in the men's 400H, Elijah Munoz threw 56.60 meters (185-08) in the men's javelin, and Juan Leal clocked in a 4:02.10 in the men's 1500-meter race.

Jacob Yeager posted a 1:52.59 in the men's 800-meter run to wrap up competition at the Bobcat Invite.

"We have a big Day 2 ahead of us, starting in the morning with the 4x100 relay at the Texas Relays, and then we'll head over to the Bobcat Invite in the evening," Green said. "We're looking forward to another strong day of competition."
