CUSA Names UTEP’s Belik, Hill, Jerubet, Rashid to All-Academic Team

DALLAS – UTEP's Jakub Belik, Joshua Hill, Ruth Jerubet and Abdulraof Rashid were honored to the 2024 Conference USA Men's and Women's All-Academic Teams as announced by league officials on Monday.
 
The quartet of UTEP student-athletes named to the team is the most since 2008 (Mickael Hanany, Patrick Mutai, Japheth Ng'ojoy and Keisha Walkes). 
 
Belik earned a second consecutive spot on the CUSA Men's All-Academic team. Belik is the first since Sven Zellner to be named to the All-Academic squad on back-to-back occasions  (2015, 2016). Belik maintained a 3.81 GPA in computer science. Belik has been on the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll for the last three seasons (2022, 2023, 2024) and is a three-time CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medalist. 
 
Belik recently advanced to the 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore., to compete in the men's high jump on June 5-8. The junior leaped a personal-best 2.20 meters (7-2.5) at the NCAA West First Round on May 24 and finished sixth overall. Belik was named the CUSA Male Field Athlete of the Meet after winning a pair of gold medals. The Jaromer, Czech Republic, native captured gold in the men's high jump with a 2.15-meter (7-0.5) leap, while winning gold in the men's triple jump at 14.87 meters (48-9.5). It was Belik's first time doing the triple jump since high school. Belik, dating back to the 2023 indoor season, has taken gold in four consecutive CUSA indoor/outdoor championship meets. 
 
Belik is scheduled to compete in the NCAA Championships men's high jump finals on Friday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. MT in his first visit to historic Hayward Field. It will mark his second consecutive championship appearance after competing at last year's NCAA Nationals in Austin. 
 
Hill worked towards a 3.53 GPA in kinesiology to earn his first men's all-academic team honor. Hill is a four-time CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll member (2021, 2022, 2023, 2024).
 
Hill took silver at the CUSA OTF Championships in the 400 meter, clocking in a 47.03. The redshirt junior also won silver in the indoor 400 (47.43) and the men's 4x400-meter relay team with a 3:13.79 at the CUSA Indoor Championships. He clocked in a personal-best 22.01 in the indoor 200-meter dash at the New Mexico Team Open in January. 
 
Jerubet earned a spot on the women's all-academic team after posting a 3.58 GPA in Industrial & Systems Engineering. She was also announced to the 2024 CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. 
 
The senior distance runner finished fourth in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase at the CUSA OTF Championships at Kidd Field. At the CUSA ITF championships, Jerubet clocked in a personal-best 4:57.06 in the mile, while she earned a bronze medal with the DMR team with an 11:48.26. Jerubet clocked in a personal-best 2:18.60 in the indoor 800 at the Jarvis Scott Open. Jerubet opened the 2024 indoor/outdoor track and field season with a third-place finish in the mile (5:06.29) at the Stan Scott Memorial. 
 
Rashid bolstered a 3.90 GPA in kinesiology to earn a spot on the men's all-academic team for the first time in his career. He was recently named to the CUSA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll and honored as a CUSA Commissioner's Academic Medalist. 
 
Rashid clocked in a personal-best 10.45 in the men's 100-meter dash at the NCAA West First Round last week. The sophomore sprinter clocked in a personal-best 21.00 in the 200-meter dash at the CUSA OTF Championships. He placed eighth in the 100 with a 10.36 (5.1) at the championships at Kidd Field. Rashid competed in the 60 and 200 at the CUSA ITF Championships. Rashid posted a PR 6.80 in the 60 at the Jarvis Scott Open.
