#ICYMI
UTEP moved to 2-1-2 in 2024 following a 3-0 rout over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Thursday evening. After a scoreless first half, junior Sheyliene Patolo opened the floodgates in the 56th minute off a double assist from Hayden McMillan and Mina Rodriguez. Just eight minutes later Eve Barry scored her first collegiate goal to double the Miners lead, with Rodriguez picking up a second assist on the night. Ana Quintero capped the win with her second goal of the season in the 71st minute, taking advantage of a mishandled ball by Islanders keeper Zoe Theriot. The UTEP defense didn't let the visitors get much going offensively, allowing just five shots with zero on goal in the contest. Miner netminders Angelina Amparano and Tionna Taylor posted a combined shutout in the win.

LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE ROOK
Ana Quintero leads or is tied for the lead in several stat categories, including goals (two), points (four) shots (eight), shots on goal (four), and game-winning goals (one).

THREE'S COMPANY
The Miners' three goals were the most scored since a 3-1 win at Wyoming on 9/4/22. Furthermore, it marks the most goals scored at University Field since a 3-1 rivalry win over NM State on 2/11/21 (Covid-delayed 2020 season.)

IT AIN'T OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER
All three goals against the Islanders came in the second half, which is the most goals in a second half since the Miners put up five in the second period of a 6-1 thrashing over Lubbock Christian on 8/17/18.

HEY ALEXA, PLAY CLEAN (SHEET) BY TAYLOR SWIFT
The three-nil shutout is UTEP's biggest shutout victory since the 2017 season when the Miners blanked New Mexico Highlands 8-0 on 9/13/17.

SHOUTOUT FOR THE SHUTOUTS
The Miners three shutouts in the first five games of the season is the most since 2016 when UTEP blanked four out of its first five opponents.
