Get To Know Kennesaw State
Kennesaw State is 1-8-3 on the year, including 0-3-0 in CUSA play. The Owls have dropped three straight, including the past two at home. The skid is on the heels of a 7-1 dismantling of Alabama State on Sept. 17. KSU had its first two games of the season cancelled before being outscored by a combined total of 17-0 in a very difficult three-tilt stretch to officially christen the campaign. The Owls lost, 7-0, to No. 24 Memphis (8/21), were dealt a 6-0 setback at SEC member Auburn (8/24) before coming up short, 4-0, at the hands of Georgia State (8-28). KSU was a respectable 1-2-3 in its final six nonconference contests, but it has struggled since league play hit. The match against UTEP is the first of three in a row on the road for the Owls. Rebecca Womer (three goals) keys the offense, with Raelyn Prince and Anabel Orozco each finding the back of the net twice. Prince and Ava Bradford share the team lead in assists with two. Sara Hill has been busy but steady in net, producing a mark of 1-2-3 on the year. That has been aided by a pair of shutouts. She has denied 80.0 percent (fourth CUSA/91st NCAA) of shots on goal. Her GAA is a strong 1.089, which is good enough for fourth in the league and close to the top-100 nationally (119th). KSU does a good job of playing without fouling. It has been whistled for only 8.08 infractions per contest (third CUSA/96th NCAA).
Series History With Kennesaw State
Saturday's matchup will be the second all-time between the programs. Last year, UTEP picked up a point on the road by tying, 1-1, with Kennesaw State (9/19/24).
Just Gotta Finish
UTEP jumped out to a 1-0 lead against Liberty in the 15th minute, with
Ana Quintero besting the GK.
Olivia Roskos and
Dannique Wilson were both credited with assists on the play. The Miners continued to hold the advantage until late in the match when the Lady Flames managed to find the equalizer in the 89th minute (80 seconds left). Unfortunately, the situation was similar against Delaware on Sept. 28, but this time a late goal from the visitors cost the Miners a tie as opposed to a win. The Blue Hens scored on a corner kick with only seven seconds to play, letting them steal the 2-1 victory. In essence, the Orange and Blue were a combined 87 seconds away from starting their three-match homestand at 1-0-1.
Talk About A Sunday Crowd
UTEP attracted a season-best 647 fans to University Field for the Miners' match against Delaware (9/28/25). Furthermore, it marked the biggest Sunday home crowd for UTEP since 2009 (894 vs. East Carolina).
More Along Those Lines
UTEP has drawn more than 550 fans in back-to-back home games for the first time since 2014. The Miners are hoping for another big crowd Saturday against Kennesaw State.
Got After Delaware
UTEP fired 20 shots against Delaware on Sept. 28, marking its highest total in a conference contest since compiling 24 last year vs. Middle Tennessee (9/26/24). It was the third time in 2025 that the Orange and Blue have surpassed 20 shots (23 vs. Texas Southern, 8/17, and 26 vs. SFA, 8/31). The opposition, meanwhile, has achieved that feat just once this season, with Liberty (9/25) compiling 22 shot attempts.
That's A Lot Of Saves
Savanah Finley delivered a career-most 10 saves against Liberty (9/25), with nine of those coming in the final 45 minutes of action after the visitors really turned up the heat. The 10 stops are the most by a Miner keeper in four years. Freshman Luisa Palmen also had 10 saves in a 1-0 triumph against UTSA (9/24/21).
Quintero Finds The Back Of The Net Again
Sophomore
Ana Quintero buried a chance against Liberty (9/25), which served as her team-leading fourth goal of the campaign. She needs one goal over the final five contests of the regular season to match her total (five) from her stellar freshman season.
She Can Pass Too
Ana Quintero drew some attention before getting the ball to
Dannique Wilson, who had a clinical finish on the goal against Delaware. It was the first career assist for Quintero. Factor in her team-best four goals and Quintero has more than double the points (nine) than any other Miner.
Eve Barry and Wilson share second on the unit with four points. Quintero has been a problem all season long for opponents, topping CUSA in shots per game (3.67-42nd NCAA). She is also fourth in the conference and 92nd nationally with 1.50 shots on goal per contest.
First Of Many For Dannique
Junior
Dannique Wilson blasted home a shot for a brilliant goal against Delaware (9/28), marking her first as a Miner. Coupled with her team-high tying two assists, she shares second on the squad for points (nine).
Getting Going
After being shut out in consecutive contest, the Miners have found the back of the net in four of the past five games. If UTEP can put away a chance against Kennesaw State on Saturday, it would mark the first occasion since 2023 that the Orange and Blue would have scored in three consecutive CUSA affairs.
Mora Back From Camp U-20 Mexico National Team
Ashlee Mora had her third call-up to the U-20 Mexico National Team prior to the Miners' match at Arizona State (9/12). She missed that contest as result but has since returned to the Orange and Blue. All three of Mora's invitations to train with the squad have occurred since April 2025.
Finley One Shutout Shy Of UTEP Single-Season Top-10
Freshman standout
Savanah Finley has recorded four clean sheets on the year (tied second CUSA/tied 57th NCAA). She is one short of cracking the school's single-season top-10 list for shutouts. Furthermore, Finley is three shy of equaling the most in a campaign by a Miner freshman GK.
Emily Parrott registered seven as a true freshman in 2019.
Taking All The Minutes
UTEP freshman GK
Savanah Finley has started and played every minute of every match this season. Her 1080 minutes logged ties for second in Conference USA among netminders, while also giving her a share of 19th nationally. She has recorded a 1.167 GAA (sixth CUSA) while producing four shutouts (tied second CUSA/tied 57th NCAA). Finley is the first Miner freshman netminder with multiple shutouts in a season since
Emily Parrott (seven, 2019). She also is the initial UTEP freshman GK to start in the opener dating to Parrott's run in 2019.
Defending Cleanly
Co-captain
Ashlyn Neireiter, who has started every match on the back line for UTEP, is incredibly durable. She has played a possible 1072 out of 1080 minutes this year. Furthermore, she has committed only three fouls. The junior has also gotten involved offensively with a game-winning goal on a header against Tarleton State (8/28).
Spreading The Wealth For Match Winners
UTEP's three triumphs have come on match winners from three different players (
Eve Barry,
Ashlyn Neireiter and
Ana Quintero).
Unselfish Soccer
UTEP has scored 10 goals on 12 assists, with every tally this year being set up by at least one player. The 12 helpers are the most by the Miners since 2022 (13).
Mina Rodriguez,
Olivia Roskos and
Dannique Wilson set the tone with two each. The Orange and Blue are on track to have more assists than goals for the first time in three years.
Honor Thy Captains
The Miners appointed co-captains for the 2025 season, with defenders
Kaila Hudson and
Ashlyn Neireiter sharing the honors.
Double Trouble
UTEP has two sets of twins on the 2025 roster (freshmen
Damaris Cisneros and
Yesenia Cisneros and seniors
Kaila Hudson and
Kialie Hudson), in addition to three other individuals with twin sisters (junior
Eve Barry, freshman
Ava Grosso and sophomore
Sarina Villa Cuellar).
30th Season Of UTEP Soccer
The 2025 campaign marks the 30th season in program history. The Miners boast an all-time record of 285-237-51, including 176-79-23 at University Field (elevation of 4,200 feet).
