UTEP T&F Concludes Busy Weekend of Competition as Multiple Miners Set Personal Bests Saturday

LONG BEACH/WALNUT, Calif. – UTEP track and field's Esher Osisike set two personal bests, first in the women's discus at 53.72 meters (176-3) and in the shot put with a 15.13-meter (49-7.75) hurl, while Praise Djoma leaped a personal-best 12.50 meters (41-0.25) in the women's triple jump at Long Beach State's Beach Invitational at Jack Rose Track. Loubna Benhadja clocked in a personal-best 57.32 in the women's 400-meter hurdles at the 65th annual Mt. SAC Relays at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on Saturday. 
 
Benhadja, who placed first in the 400 hurdles, entered the meet ranked first in Conference USA in the 400 hurdles with her previous season-best time of 57.88, which she ran on April 17 at the Pacific Coast Invitational. The senior's previous best career time was 57.49. 
 
Osisike finished fifth out of 73 discus throwers. She entered the weekend ranked second in CUSA with her previous best mark of 52.46 meters (172-1). FIU's Michaelle Valentin currently leads CUSA at 62.17 meters (204-0).
 
Osisike kept throwing far as the sophomore set a new mark in the shot put and finished sixth of 62 competitors. Osisike's personal-best throw of 15.13 meters ranks first in CUSA. Osisike ranked third in the conference with her previous best mark of 14.53 meters (47-8).
 
Djoma finished fifth in the triple jump with her new best mark, tying with FIU's Danielle McGonigle for no. 1 in CUSA. 
 
Back at the Mt. SAC Relays, Jordani Woodley clocked in a season-best 13.89 in the men's 110-meter hurdles, which is tied for third in CUSA with teammate Amir Williams.
 
Marissa Simpson also saw action at the Mt. SAC Relays, finishing third in the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 13.11. 
 
At the Beach Invitational, Alla Parnov posted a season-best 4.10-meter (13-5.25) leap in the women's pole vault. The sophomore tied for fourth out of 27 pole vaulters. Parnov ranks first in CUSA with her previous season-best mark of 4.09 meters. 
 
Jakub Belik took first in the men's high jump at 2.17 meters (7-1.5). It was the seniors' 12th career victory in the outdoor event. It was also Belik's second victory this week after placing first at the Pacific Coast Invitational on Thursday. 
 
Rejoice Sule finished third of 41 runners in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.63 (-1.6). Sule is ranked second in CUSA in the 100 with a time of 11.38. 
 
Julio Pacheco Estrada (47.35) was fourth and Joshua Hill (47.64) was sixth of 38 runners in the men's 400-meter dash. 
 
Amir Williams placed fifth of 36 competitors in the men's 110-meter hurdles (14.27). 
 
Stephen Carreto, who set a personal-best time of 52.40 in the 400-meter hurdles at Thursday's Pacific Coast Invitational, placed sixth of 32 with a time of 52.97. Carreto currently ranks third in CUSA after his performance on Thursday. 
 
UP NEXT
UTEP track and field will head up the road to Albuquerque to compete at New Mexico's Don Kirby Tailwind Open on Friday, April 25. The Miners will conclude the regular season at Arizona's Desert Heat Classic on Saturday, May 3, followed by the 2025 CUSA Championships on May 16-18 in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
