Get To Know Arizona State
Big 12 member Arizona State is unbeaten (6-0-1) on the year, aided by winning five in a row. Furthermore, it is 13-0-6 over the past 19 home nonconference matches, with the last setback in the situation coming against No. 17 LSU (L, 5-2, 9/5/21). The Sun Devils have outscored the opposition by a whopping 13 goals (16-3), with nine different players finding the back of the net. Tatum Thompson (four-sixth Big 12/68th NCAA), Sierra Bergen (three-eighth Big 12), Peyton Marcisz (two) and Izzy Monck (two) all have multiple tallies while five others have one goal each. Cameron Valladares, who has one of those goals, has been lethal at setting up teammates with five assists (second Big 12/seventh NCAA). Two-time All-Pac 12 GK Pauline Nelles has started every match in net, producing a minute 0.439 GAA (fifth/32nd), turning away 88.5 percent of her shots (fifth/36th). She is also in the conference and national leaders for shutouts (four-second/eighth). As a squad, the Sun Devils are talented across the board. They are among the league and national rankings for assists per games (2.57-fith/26th), corners per contest (9.43-first/third), fewest fouls per game (7.71-fifth/85th), goal differential (+13-third/21st), points per game (7.14-fifth/40th), scoring offense (2.29-sixth/52nd), shot accuracy (53.3-first/40th), shots per game (15.29-seventh/82nd), shutout percentage (57.1-fifth/44th) and won-lost-tied percentage (92.9-first). Series History With Arizona State
Arizona State leads the series, 3-1, with the Miners' lone victory against the Sun Devils coming during their inaugural season as a program on Oct. 4, 1996. Most recently, ASU snuck past UTEP, 2-0, at University Field (8/27/23). The match was scoreless at the half. UTEP is making its third trip Tempe, Ariz.

Big Road Win At Boise State
Eve Barry (31') buried her second goal of the season, and Savanah Finley registered five saves (all in the first half) as the UTEP soccer team defeated defending Mountain West regular-season champions Boise State, 1-0, on the road on Sept. 6.

Talking Nonconference Road Wins
For the first time since 2022 (at UNLV, W, 1-0, 8/28/22) and the third occasion since 2019, the Miners picked up a nonconference road win outside the state of Texas by knocking off Boise State on Sept. 6. UTEP played with poise in toughness to emerge with the victory in front of more than 1,000 Broncos' faithful.

Shutting Things Down In The Second Half
UTEP didn't allow a shot on goal in the second half in the 1-0 triumph at Boise State. It marked the second time in the past three matches and the sixth occasion of the Gibbs Keeton era that that opposition has failed to record a shot on target during the final 45 minutes of a game. The Miners improved to 3-1-2 in the situation.

Three Match Winners
UTEP's three triumphs have come on match winners from three different players (Eve BarryAshlyn Neireiter and Ana Quintero).
Unselfish Soccer
UTEP has scored seven goals on eight assists, with every tally this year being set up by at least one player. The eight helpers already match the total from 2024. With the next assist, the Miners will have their most since 2022 (13

Another Week, Another Player Of the Week
Savanah Finley was voted as the Conference USA GK of the Week on Sept. 9, marking the second time in as many weeks that the Miners have taken home a league weekly honor (Ashlyn Neireiter, Defensive Player of the Week, Sept. 2). It is the first time in 15 years and the fourth occasion in the 30th season of the program (2002, 2006, 2010) that the Miners have garnered back-to-back weekly league awards.

Did It As A Freshman Too
Savanah Finley became the first UTEP netminder to take home the award since 2022 (Mariah Scott), including the initial freshman to secure a weekly conference accolade at the position in 12 years (GK Keighton Allen, Defensive Player of the Week, 10/28/13). Finley helped UTEP forge a 1-1 mark on a road trip last week, which included a 1-0 victory at defending Mountain West Champions Boise State on Sept. 7. She conceded only one goal across two games, to an unmarked player after a ricochet off the bar at Idaho (gone to three straight Big Sky championship contests) on Sept. 4, while finishing with eight total saves. Finley had five against BSU, including two match-altering stops.

Moving In The Right Direction
The Miners (3-4-1 in 2025) are 5-5-2 dating to the end of last year. They had been 3-7-3 over the first 13 games of 2024 before going 2-1-1 in the final four contests.

Shutting Down The Opposition
UTEP has locked down the opposition all season long offensively. The Miners have shutout 50 percent of the opponents (first CUSA/61st NCAA) while allowing only five total goals for a goals against average of (0.625-first CUSA/45th NCAA.) Freshman GK Savanah Finley finds herself among the conference and country leaders as well for numerous categories. Her GAA of (0.625-third/64th), save percentage (82.8 percent-fourth/68th) and shutouts (four-tied first/tied eighth).

Goals At A Premium For Foes
For the second straight year, opponents have only five goals within the first eight contests of the season. Prior to the recent defensive success, it marks the fewest total at this juncture of the campaign since 2016 (four goals in eight matches). The Miners will be tested in this area against ASU, which is accounting for 2.29 goals per game (sixth Big 12/52nd NCAA).

Taking All The Minutes
UTEP freshman GK Savanah Finley is one of 12 netminders in the country to have played 720:00 minutes on the season. Including Finley, three of the keepers on the list are in CUSA, with Sophia Hall (Delaware) and Cadence Rutledge (LA Tech) also logging every possible minute to this point.

Don't Blink, Or You'll Miss Anita
Anita Quintero, who shares the team lead with two goals, has been a consistent pest for the opposition. She leads CUSA and is 18th nationally at 4.0 shots per game. The sophomore hasn't just been unleashing things, she has been getting them on target. Among CUSA players, she trails only Delaware's Maggie Groh (2.13)for shots on goal per game. Quintero has put up 1.88 shots on target per match (second CUSA/35th NCAA).

Youth Served In Net
Freshman Savanah Finley started the opener, and she hasn't looked back. She has registered four shutouts (tied first CUSA/tied eighth NCAA), making her the first Miner freshman GK to record multiple clean sheets in a season since Emily Parrott (seven, 2019). Parrott was also the last UTEP freshman keeper to start the lid lifter before Finley did so vs. Abilene Christian (8/14/25).

Defending Cleanly
Co-captain Ashlyn Neireiter, who has started every match on the back line for UTEP, is the lone field player to log all 720 minutes of action. She has been a key cog of a defensive unit that has only allowed four goals in the run of play (one other on a PK), but incredibly she committed just one foul.

Honor Thy Captains
The Miners appointed co-captains for the 2025 season, with defenders Kaila Hudson and Ashlyn Neireiter sharing the honors.

Taking Notice Of Ashlyn
Ashlyn Neireiter was voted to the Preseason All-Conference USA Team, the league office revealed on Aug. 7. The junior was tabbed as one of four defenders on the 11-player squad, making her the first Miner to be so distinguished since forward Vic Bohdan was selected in 2018. She was the lone UTEP player to start every match last season while also topping the squad in in minutes played (1518). That was nearly 400 more minutes earned than the next individual on the team.

Double Trouble
UTEP has two sets of twins on the 2025 roster (freshmen Damaris Cisneros and Yesenia Cisneros and seniors Kaila Hudson and Kialie Hudson), in addition to three other individuals with twin sisters (junior Eve Barry, freshman Ava Grosso and sophomore Sarina Villa Cuellar).

30th Season Of UTEP Soccer
The 2025 campaign marks the 30th season in program history. The Miners boast an all-time record of 285-234-50, including 176-78-22 at University Field (elevation of 4,200 feet).
