LAS CRUCES, N.M. – UTEP softball dropped game two of its Conference USA series at NM State, 3-0, Saturday night at the NM State Softball Complex.
UTEP moves to 11-26 overall and 3-14 in CUSA play, while NM State improves to 20-20 (10-7 CUSA).
NM State struck first in the bottom of the second inning with an RBI double to left center, putting the Aggies ahead 1-0. The Aggies added to their lead in the fifth inning with back-to-back solo home runs to extend the advantage to 3-0.
The Miners were limited to three hits on the night, with Iliana Munoz, Aaliyah Betancourt and Cece Marquez each recording one. Mallory Zylinski Wrobel drew UTEP's lone walk as a pinch hitter, while Kendall Angulo reached base after being hit by a pitch in a pinch-hit appearance.
Defensively, Munoz anchored the infield with 10 putouts at first base and helped turn two double plays.
Arianna Flores earned the start in the circle for UTEP and was charged with the loss, moving to 2-7 on the season after tossing 2.0 innings. Ryann Presswood provided 3.0 innings of relief, while Hannah Jones closed out the game with a perfect sixth inning, facing three batters without allowing a hit, run or walk.

The series finale between the Miners and the Aggies is slated for Sunday, April 12 at 1 p.m. MDT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
