UTEP Softball Falls at No. 23 Arizona State

TEMPE, Ariz. – The UTEP softball team dropped a 13-0 decision to nationally ranked No. 23 Arizona State Tuesday afternoon at Farrington Stadium.

The Miners move to 11-24 on the season, while the Sun Devils improved to 30-11 with the win.

ASU built an early lead with five runs in the opening frame, highlighted by four consecutive RBI hits. The Sun Devils added four more runs in the second inning, including a grand slam, and continued to tack on runs in each of the next two innings to secure the run-rule victory.

UTEP was limited to two hits on the day, coming from Iliana Munoz and Jayde Pagdilao. Ari Leon reached base twice after drawing a pair of walks.

Tatyana Vega got the start in the circle for the Miners and was charged with the loss, moving to 8-10 on the season.
