UTEP Hall of Famer Camilla Carrera returns to the Miner softball program as an assistant coach for the 2020 season.
Carrera played for the Miners from 2008-12. During that time she became UTEP's all-time leader in batting average (.401), on-base percentage (.508), games started (219), hits (260), home runs (61) and RBI (197). Her historic 2012 season produced an NCAA record 0.60 home runs per game, as she led the nation in homers (32) and slugging percentage (1.199). Carrera became the first All-American in UTEP softball history, was a two-time Conference USA Player of the Year, and was inducted into the UTEP Athletics Hall of Fame in 2018.

Carrera previously served as a graduate assistant for NM State during the 2019 season. She brought four additional years of coaching experience at Omaha (2017-18) and Alvin Community College (2014-17) to the Miner staff.
