UTEP Women’s Golf Places 8th at Fresno State Classic

FRESNO, Calif. – The UTEP Women's Golf team wrapped up play at the Fresno State Classic with the Miners finishing eighth overall as a team on Tuesday at Copper River Country Club in Fresno, California.
 
The Miners were led by senior Audrey Haddad, who tied for 23rd among all individuals with a three-round total of 222 (76-73-73) to finish at 6-over par. Her overall score of 22 is the second-lowest 54-round total of the season for Haddad.  
 
UTEP opened the event with a first-round team total of 307 to finish the morning in 12th place. In the second round of play that afternoon, the Miners improved as a team, shooting 299 to move up to 10th place to close out the first day of action on the links.  
 
The Miners wrapped up the final round on Tuesday morning with their best round of the tournament, shooting 290 as a team to finish the tournament in eighth place out of 15 teams competing at the Fresno State Classic. The Miners finished with a three-round team total of 896 (307-299-290; +32).
 
UTEP's team total of 290 in the final round is the lowest by the Miners since Oct. 28, 2019 when the team combined to shoot 285 in the second round of the Little Rock Classic.
 
Sophomore Sophie Delfosse shot 223 (77-72-74; +7) at the two-day event to finish tied for 27th individually, while freshman Ines Dakiche finished in a tie for 31st after shooting 224 overall in the event (78-77-69; +8). Dakiche's third-round score of 69 ties for the lowest round by a Miner this season and a career-low in her career.
 
Naomi Ramirez finished just outside the top 50 with a three-round total of 231 (76-77-78; +15), while Daniela Chipchase tied for 58th with a score total of 232 (78-80-74; +16).
 
Stanford took home the team title at this year's Fresno State Classic after finishing 18-under as a team, while Rachel Heck took home the individual title after shooting 16-under par in three rounds for the Cardinal.
 
The Miners will turn their attention to the 2021 Conference USA Championships on April 19-21 when the team travels to Dade City, Florida, to compete for a conference title.
