Miners to Compete at Golf Iconic Classic Hosted by NM State

EL PASO, Texas – UTEP women's golf will cross over the New Mexico border to take part in the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by NM State on Monday-Wednesday at the NMSU Golf Course (par 72, 6,420 yards).
 
Formerly known as the Aggie Invitational, the tournament is entering its first year under the new name. UTEP finished in a tie for 11th in the event last season.
 
Monday will feature 8:30 a.m. tee time starts, with Tuesday and Wednesday also getting underway at 8:30 a.m. with shotgun starts. Live scoring can be followed on GolfStat.  
 
A total of 15 programs will be competing in the event, including NM State, UTEP, CSU-Bakersfield, Cal Poly, Campbell, Long Beach State, Oral Roberts, Pepperdine, San Francisco, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, UC Riverside, UT Arlington, UTRGV and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Of the 15 teams, six will also be represented by individuals.
 
Participants for UTEP will include Sophie Delfosse, Andrea Ostos, Nawel Ben Letaief, Marta Romeu Chen and Daniela Chipchase. In addition, Ella Hammond-Baveystock and Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic will take the course as individuals.
 
Delfosse is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Bearkat Invitational last week and Ostos tied for 12th.
 
Jovicevic Kovacic is making her season debut after competing in four tournaments last spring.
 
The field this week in Las Cruces features 82 golfers.
