Miners Back in Action at The Clash at Boulder Creek

EL PASO, Texas – Following a quality start to the season featuring three top-seven team finishes, UTEP women's golf is back in action Sunday-Tuesday at The Clash at Boulder Creek hosted by Northern Arizona.

Play gets underway at the Boulder Creek Golf Club (par 72, 6,309 yards) on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. MST/11:30 a.m. MDT with a shotgun start. The final two days each begin at 7 a.m. MST/8 a.m. MDT with shotgun starts. The course is located in Boulder City, Nev.

Live stats will be available through BirdieFire for the 54-hole event.

This is the second year of the tournament, which was won by UNLV as a team in the inaugural edition. Veronica Joels of UNLV won the individual championship with a 5-under par 211.

The field features 18 schools, many of which hail from western states. The competing teams include Boise State, Cal Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, Idaho, Montana State, North Dakota, San Francisco, Seattle, UC Riverside, UTEP, UTRGV, Utah Tech, Utah Valley, UC Irvine, Southern Utah, Nevada, Long Beach State and Northern Arizona. Morgan Goldstein of UNLV will compete as an individual.

For the third straight tournament, UTEP will start the five of Sophie Delfosse, Andrea Ostos, Marta Romeu Chen, Daniela Chipchase and Nawel Ben Letaief.

Romeu Chen is coming off a career-best round of 67 on the final day of the Golf Iconic Classic which launched her up the leaderboard to finish in a tie for 18th.

Once play is complete this week, the Miners have one more tournament in the 2022 calendar year at the Mercer Invitational in Macon, Ga. on Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
