LAS CRUCES, N.M. –
A pair of Miners shot career-low rounds in the final round on Wednesday as UTEP women's golf climbed the leaderboard to finish seventh at the Golf Iconic Classic hosted by NM State.

Entering the day sitting in ninth, UTEP capitalized on a career day for Marta Romeu Chen, who jumped nearly 30 spots individually with a final round 5-under par 67. She would conclude action with a three-day score of 3-over par 219 (80, 72, 67). The 54-hole tally was also the best performance individually to this point in the career for the product of Valencia, Spain.

The Miners put together an 885 (300, 299, 286) for the tournament as a team.

"Today was a special day," UTEP Head Coach Steve Sims said. "We started out strong and finished the round off strong. We cleaned up the small mistakes from the previous rounds and I couldn't be more proud of everyone. It's a great momentum builder as we move into our next event in a couple of weeks."

Playing as an individual, Tijana Jovicevic Kovacic posted a career-low 72 on Wednesday as she tied for 39th overall with a 224 (76, 76, 72).

UTEP fielded seven participants in the field, taking advantage of the short 40-minute drive to the event.

For the 10th time in her career, Sophie Delfosse earned at least a share of being the top finisher for the Miners with a 3-over par 219 (74, 73, 72) to tie for 18th with Romeu Chen.

Andrea Ostos tied for 23rd with a 4-over par 220 (72, 76, 72) as she put together a pair of even-par rounds.

Nawel Ben Letaief (232), Daniela Chipchase (235) and Ella Hammond-Baveystock (249) rounded out the competitors for UTEP.

Participants battled various weather elements throughout the tournament, with Pepperdine coming out on top with 5-under par 859 to take the team title. Sarah Bell of Oral Roberts claimed the individual title with an 8-under par 208 (71, 67, 70).

UTEP hits the course next for The Clash at Boulder Creek hosted by Northern Arizona in Boulder City, Nev. from Oct. 23-25.
