EL PASO, Texas. – The UTEP tennis team (2-7) will square off against Pacific (4-4) at the El Paso Tennis Club at 12 p.m. MT Saturday. Admission is free. It will be the first home match for the Miners since January 31 and just the third overall for the spring season.
"It has been far too long since our last home match," UTEP head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "We are very pumped to be playing at home again. We know it's going to be a very competitive match, but we are up for the challenge."
The Miners are 1-1 on the season at home, boasting a 7-0 win against Western New Mexico on Jan. 23. They were knocked off by Pac-12 power, Arizona, on Jan. 31 in the only other match in the Sun City.
Freshman
Carlotta Mencaglia has produced a team-high four dual-match wins, including going 1-0 at No. 4 singles and 2-0 at No. 5 singles.
Veronika Lebisova has buoyed her with a mark of 3-2 in dual action (2-1 at No. 3 singles).
Elena Dibattista,
Kathleen Percegona and
Laura Schmitz all sport multiple dual wins as well.
In doubles action for dual both
Thassane Abrahim and Lebisova and Mencaglia and Percegona are 3-3.
