Box Score Match Results In PDF Format

SURPRISE, Ariz. – The UTEP tennis team cruised past OUAZ, 6-1, on the road Tuesday afternoon. The Miners (3-8) won every doubles match and five of the six singles contests to handily topple the Spirit (5-5).
 
"It was good to get a win," UTEP head coach Ivan Fernandez said. "We needed this to start getting back into a winning mentality. We hope to keep this going tomorrow (against Arizona Christian)."
 
The Miners started things strong by taking all three matches in doubles action to secure the team point. Veronika Lebisova and Thassane Abrahim rolled to a 6-2 win against Johanna Sotelo-Mena and Paulette Careaga at No. 1 doubles. Carlotta Mencaglia and Eve Daniels were in control from the get go on the way to besting Giulia Leali and Antonia Kostoff, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles. Kathleen Percegona and Elena Dibattista emerged victorious by the identical score at against Maya Salamon and Lyndsee Fleury at No. 3 doubles.
 
UTEP continue to lay it on in singles action, winning on one through five singles for the decisive triumph. Lebisova set the tone with a 6-0, 6-0, win at No. 5 singles against Veronica Gallardo. It marked her third consecutive victory. Lina Sachica took down Kostoff, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 3 singles while Mencaglia was in top form with a 6-2, 6-2 dispatching of Sotelo-Mena at No. 2 singles.
 
Percegona posted a 6-3, 6-3, triumph over Leali at No. 1 singles and Dibattista bested Careaga, 6-3, 6-1, at No. 4 singles. Laura Schmitz went down fighting to Cassidy Clark at No. 6 singles, 6-4, 1-6, 10-6.
 
The Miners will shoot for their second straight road win when they play at Arizona Christian at 2 p.m. MT Wednesday.
