EL PASO, Texas– The UTEP tennis team (4-8) will look to extend its winning streak to three when it plays host to UTPB at 10 a.m. MT Sunday. The match will be held at the El Paso Tennis Club, and admission is free. The Miners won two road matches in as many days earlier this week to build momentum heading into the contest with the Falcons.
"After a couple of solid matches in Arizona we are looking forward to playing at home again on Sunday," UTEP head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "We hope to continue the winning streak and keep improving with every match."
Veronica Lebisova is riding a three-match winning streak and stands at a combined 5-2 in dual play. That trails only
Carlotta Mencaglia (6-5) for wins during the dual season.
Elena Dibattista and
Kathleen Percegona each sport a quartet of wins in dual play while
Lina Sachica and
Laura Schmitz sport three wins apiece. In total, five different Miners have won at least two straight singles matches.
UTEP is also playing well of late in doubles play where
Thassane Abrahim and Lebisova have peeled off three in a row to improve to 6-3 at the No. 1 position.
Eve Daniels and Mencaglia and Dibattista and Percegona have both won back-to-back matches.
