EL PASO, Texas– Riding a three-match winning streak, the UTEP tennis team (5-8) will look to keep things going when it competes at Tarleton State (13-4) at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Friday and against UTRGV (10-4) at 9 a.m. MT/10 a.m. CT Saturday.
"We are feeling very positive and energized going into the two upcoming matches," UTEP head coach
Ivan Fernandez said. "We know both teams are very solid, but we are up for the challenge."
The Miners have won a season-high three straight matches, dropping just one game combined during the hot streak. Individually
Veronika Lebisova has posted four consecutive victories in singles play while
Elena Dibattista,
Carlotta Mencaglia,
Kathleen Percegona and
Lina Sachica have all won three straight singles matches.
It's been a similar story in doubles play with the Miners' top pairing of
Thassane Abrahim and Lebisova standing 7-3 at No. 1 doubles as result of winning four in a row.
Eve Daniels and Mencaglia and Dibattista and Percegona have both won their past three matches in doubles play.
UTEP will have to be in top form this weekend with both Tarleton State (13 wins) and UTRGV (10 wins) boasting double-digit victory totals on the campaign.
