EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP softball team (12-23, 2-10 Conference USA) will travel to Hattiesburg, MS to take on Southern Miss (23-16, 3-9 C-USA) in a three-game series that runs April 14-16.  
 
The matchup will be streamed on the CUSA.tv, with live stats also available.

UTEP is coming off a bye week, as its last series was at North Texas that ran April 1-3. Southern Miss is coming off its first Conference USA series win of the season against Charlotte on April 10.

Aalijah Alarcon (7-12) leads the squad with 97.2 innings in 25 appearances and 18 starts, throwing seven-complete-game victories and earning three saves.

Notables 

• Lexi Morales paces the squad with a .320 batting average on 31 hits. She's slugged .474 with a .441 on-base percentage and 20 walks. 

• UTEP has shredded 18 home runs on the season with four Miners leading with three goners each: Anna Sample, Morales, Pate Cathey, and Kaylin Jackson. 

• Jackson and Cathey set the pace with 19 RBI each. 

• Cathey leads with 48 total bases. 

• The Miners are 21-for-24 in stolen bases. Savannah Favre is 7-for-8 and Morales is 2-for-3.

Southern Miss 

• Southern Miss sits at 2316 (3-9 C-USA) on the season. The Golden Eagles are led by Destini Brown with a .376 batting average on 44 hits. She is slugging .684 with a .490 on-base percentage. 

• Southern Miss has utilized all four pitchers through its 39 games, with Morgan Leinstock pitching a team-high 157.2 innings with 28 appearances and 23 starts. Leinstock has a 2.22 ERA with 127 strikeouts and 47 walks, 1562 hits and 62 runs allowed (50 earned) and is 15-6. As a staff, Southern Miss carries a 2.89 ERA, allowing 285 hits, 139 runs (112 earned), striking out 193 and walking 76. Southern Miss has given up nine home runs, 39 doubles and five triples. 

• The Golden Eagles lead 26-19-1 in the all-time series against the Miners. Southern Miss has won seven of the last 10 contests. Recently, UTEP finished up the first weekend of Conference USA play by splitting a doubleheader with Southern Miss on April 3, 2021, to earn a four-game series split at the Helen of Troy Softball Complex in El Paso.
