Final Regular Season Road Series: UTEP Softball Takes on Marshall

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP softball team (14-29, 4-14 Conference USA) will travel to Huntington, West Virginia to take on Marshall (30-13, 12-6 C-USA) in a three-game series that runs April 29 – May 1 at Dot Hicks Field.   
  
The matchup will be streamed on ESPN+, with live stats also available.   
  
Marshall Series  
Friday – 11 a.m. MT  
Saturday – 11 a.m. MT  
Sunday – 10 a.m. MT 

 
In the Circle 
Aalijah Alarcon (9-13) leads the squad with 113.2 innings in 28 appearances and 21starts, throwing nine-complete-game victories and earning three saves. 

  • 4.74 ERA | 69 K | 34 BB | 157 H | 77 of 92 runs allowed are earned 

  
Notables 

  • Lexi Morales paces the squad with a .283 batting average on 34 hits. She's slugged .417 with a .399 on-base percentage and 22 walks.  

  • UTEP has shredded 20 home runs on the season with Anna Sample and Pate Cathey leading with four each.  

  • Cathey sets the pace with 24 RBI.  

  • Cathey leads with 59 total bases.  

  • The Miners are 26-for-31 in stolen bases. Savannah Favre is 10-for-11. 

  
National Rankings 

  • UTEP ranks 32nd in double plays per game (0.42, 4th C-USA) 

  • Aalijah Alarcon ranks 22nd with three saves (2nd C-USA) 

  
Marshall 

  • Marshall sits at 30-13 on the season and is currently on a two-game losing streak. The team is led by Aly Harrell with a .435 batting average on 50 hits. She is slugging .713 with a .606 on-base percentage. 

  

  • Marshall has used four pitchers through its 43 games, with pitching standout Sydney Nester pitching a team-high 182.1 innings with 35 appearances and 27 starts. Nester has a 1.77 ERA with 250 strikeouts and 49 walks, 123 hits and 62 runs allowed (46 earned) and is 22-7. As a staff, Marshall carries a 2.73 ERA, allowing 242 hits, 137 runs (105 earned), striking out 314 and walking 83. Marshall has given up 25 home runs, 40 doubles and five triples. 

  

  • The Herd lead the all-time series against the Miners, 21-9-1. The two programs last met in 2016 for a three-game series where Marshall swept the Miners at Dot Hicks Field.
