EL PASO, Texas– The UTEP tennis team (6-9) will play host to NM State (5-13) at the El Paso Tennis Club in the "Battle of I-10" at 9 a.m. MT Sunday. Admission is free, and there will be pizza starting at 11 a.m. while supplies last. The match was originally scheduled for 12 p.m. but moved to 9 a.m. due to the forecast of high winds.

The Miners, who have won four of their last five matches, are looking for their second straight victory against the Aggies.

"The match this weekend vs. NM State is always a battle," UTEP head coach Ivan Fernandez said. "We have been playing some very solid tennis the last few weeks and are ready to finish the season as strong as possible."

UTEP is coming off a 5-2 win against UTRGV on March 26, and will now look to build upon that effort with the first of three consecutive home contests to close out the regular season. Freshman Carlotta Mencaglia has peeled off five straight wins in singles play to set the tone for the team during the hot streak. She now boasts a team-best nine victories during the dual season.

Veronika Lebisova has buoyed her with a record of 7-3 in dual play, elevating her to an overall mark of 15-8. In doubles action the pairing of Eve Daniels and Mencaglia is riding a five-match winning streak to lead the way. Thassane Abrahim and Lebisova have thrived together at the No. 1 doubles position, compiling a record of 8-4.

Following the match-up with NM State, UTEP will welcome Seward County Community College (April 15) and the University of the Southwest (April 17) to the El Paso Tennis Club. Both matches will commence at 11 a.m., with admission free.
