EL PASO — The UTEP softball team ranked 13th in NCAA Division I in grade point average for the 2022 season, as announced by the NFCA.
The Miners posted a 3.64 cumulative GPA, with 14 members of the 2022 squad earning All-America Scholar-Athlete honors – Zaylie Calderon, Pate Cathey, Mackenzee Collins, Marijn Crouwel, Sky Estrada, Hunter Harkrider, Kaylin Jackson, Jordyn Lopez, Idalis Mendez, Lexi Morales, Aaliyah Rebolledo, Ajia Richard, Ilena Santos and Autumn Scott.
"This is a huge accomplishment for these ladies and our team and speaks volumes to their commitment to academics," head coach T.J. Hubbard said. "We are grateful to Heather Smith, Denise Holguin, Alyssa Lopez and the rest of the MAAC Staff for the assistance they provide all of our student-athletes to be successful on and off the field."
Harvard led NCAA Division I with a collective 3.76 GPA, while UTEP paced Conference USA in GPA.
