UTEP T&F to Compete at Texas Tech Corky Classic Friday & Saturday

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP track and field team will resume the indoor with a full slate of action at the Texas Tech Corky Classic at the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center in Lubbock on Friday and Saturday.

Friday's field events will start at 1:30 p.m. MT/2:30 CT with the women's weight throw, while the running events will shoot off at 4 p.m. MT/5 CT with the women's 600-yard event. Saturday's field and running events will start at 10 a.m. MT/11 CT with the women's shot put. The projected finish is set for 3:35 p.m. MT/4:35 CT. The final events are the women's 4x400-meter relay (2:40 p.m. MT/3:40 CT) and men's 4x400 (3:05 p.m. MT/4:05 CT).

Making the trip on the men's side are Jakub Belik (high jump), Daniel Bernal (mile), Jalen Cadet (200m, long jump), Stephen Carreto (600, 4x400), Titus Cheruiyot (mile), Karon Dean (60m, 4x400), Ronaldo Griffiths (400m, 4x400), Joshua Hill (400m, 4x400), Aleks Hristov (shot put, weight throw), Dennis Johnson (60m), Maxwell Kipkosgei (1000m), Yusuf Mohamud (mile), Atiq Muhammad (60m), Elijah Munoz (60m), Julio Pacheco (200m, 4x400), Mathew Polk (60m, 200m), Emilio Rios Jr. (high jump), Michael Sims (mile), Kenneth Talavera (1000m) and Jordani Woodley (60m H, 4x40).

Competing for the women are Loubna Benhadja (600, 4x400), Chinique Brown (200m, 4x400), Oghenekaro Brume (400m, 4x400), Niesha Burgher (200m, 4x400), Angie Calderon (1000m), Lizbeth Fierro (weight throw), Carshaylah Harrison (400m), Asia Hodge (60m), Ruth Jerubet (3000m), Joan Kimaiyo (3000m), Denae McFarlane (60m, 4x400), Natalie J. Murillo (weight throw), Victoria Ovalles (3000m), Marisa Simpson (60m H, 4x400) and Karen Villa Medina (60m H).

The Miners commenced the indoor season with a Dec. 4 at the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener in Boston, Mass. Bernal (13:52.79), Jerubet (16:55.47) and Victor Kibiego (14:08.51) competed in the 5000-meter, while each setting personal bests in the event.
