FINAL RESULTS

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The UTEP track and field team completed its second full meet of the season as UTEP newcomer Niesha Burgher set a school record in the 200-meter dash at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational at the Albuquerque Convention Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Miners posted no. 1 rankings in six events on the Conference USA performance list following the meet.

"I think it was a good second meet for both our women's and men's teams. It was a short turnaround from our first meet considering that Monday was a holiday and we only got three full days of practice leading up to this event," UTEP Head Coach Mika Laaksonen said. "The women's team outdid the men's team this time around by setting 13 new personal records today and only one of them came in event that the individual had not competed in before. The men were close with 12 new personal bests, but seven of those came in events that the student-athletes competed in for the first time in UTEP uniform. The teams will get a well-deserved bye week now and we come back to Albuquerque for UNM Collegiate Invitational February 3 -4. I'm excited to see what we can accomplish then after an intense 10-day practice cycle."
