NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Zuzanna Szczepanska gutted out a three-set win in singles and Carlotta Mencaglia and Hanna Telzynska teamed up for a doubles triumph as the UTEP tennis team wrapped up the fall season on the final day of action at the CSUN Invite.
 
Szczepanska showed her toughness by rallying past Hrudaya Shah (Middle Tennessee), 1-6, 6-2, 6-4. Mencaglia and Telzynska joined forces to dispatch Nour Khayat and Kayla Merez (UC Irvine), 6-4.
 
"We were not able to maintain our success today from yesterday," UTEP head coach Ivan Fernandez said. "While we fought very hard on all the courts, our lone singles win came from Zu (Szczepanska). Our only doubles win came from Lotti (Mencaglia) and Hanna (Telzynska). This was our third weekend in a row of tournaments, and it showed today. Overall, we had a lot of positives come out of this semester, and we learned a lot about ourselves. I'm proud of the team for the effort and commitment this semester. If we can put into practice what we have learned, I see great things coming for this program in the spring."
 
Elena Dibattista battled before going down in three sets to Eloise Swarbrick (Middle Tennessee), 6-3, 5-7, 4-6. Mencaglia was held off by Lena Peyer (Middle Tennessee), 7-6, 6-3. Veronika Lebisova was dispatched by Sana Garakani (Middle Tennessee), 6-3, 6-4.
 
Emma Stuart had a winning streak snapped in a three-set loss against Sofia Dermenjyan (CSUN), 3-6, 6-1, 6-4. DeCora Antoine also went down in three sets, succumbing to Jasmine Tolmoyan (CSUN), 6-3, 5-7, 6-0. Telzynska came up short against Nicole West (CSUN), 6-4,7-5, while Paloma Hennicaux was upended at the hands of Cindy Ung (CSUN), 6-3, 7-6.
 
In doubles, Szczepanska and Lebisova were upended by Milena Gevorgyan and Kaytlin Taylor (CSU Fullerton), 6-3. Dibattista and Antoine were defeated by Haily Huynh (UCI) and Cydney Yamamoto (UCI), 6-2. Hennicaux and Stuart went down swinging to Dermenjyan and Tolmoyan (CSUN), 6-4.
