EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP tennis team won every match contested on the way to a 7-0 victory against Weatherford College on "Senior Day" at the El Paso Tennis Club Saturday afternoon.
 
The Miners (3-9) started strong by taking the doubles point before claiming each of the singles matches, including a pair by default, to send out seniors Thassane Abrahim and Eve Daniels triumphant in their final home match of their careers.

"Today was a very special day for our two seniors, Eve (Daniels) and Tuca (Thassane Abrahim) as they played their last home match of their collegiate careers," UTEP head coach Ivan Fernandez said. "I am so proud of them in how much they have grown and matured into amazing women. They will be missed, and we wish them all the best."
 
Abrahim and Veronika Lebisova cruised past Lina Brandt and Agathe Vaillant, 6-2, at No. 1 doubles. Carlotta Mencaglia and Eve Daniels took down Marija Ristanovic and Telma Llorenzo, 6-3, at No. 2 doubles to clinch the point. Zuzanna Szczepanska and Elena Dibattista won by default at No. 3 doubles.
 
The Miners kept it rolling in singles. Lebisova blasted Ristanovic, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1 singles. Mencaglia drilled Vaillant, 6-1, 6-2, at No. 2 singles.
 
Szczepanska knocked off Brandt, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 3 singles. Abrahim emerged victorious by the same score against Llorenzo at No. 4 singles. Daniels (No. 5) singles and Dibattista (No. 6 singles) both pick up triumphs by default.
 
The Orange and Blue will return to action next weekend with three road matches in as many days, playing at Alabama State (12 p.m. MT/1 p.m. CT Friday), at Samford at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT) on Saturday and at C-USA foe UAB at 11 a.m. MT/12 p.m. CT Sunday.
