UTEP Softball Hosts NM State on Tuesday in 915 Game

EL PASO – The UTEP softball team (10-22, 2-10 Conference USA) will host NM State (17-16, 6-6 Western Athletic Conference) in the 53rd edition of the Battle of 1-10 at the Helen of Troy Complex on Tuesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. MT. 

Game Promo: To celebrate UTEP softball's "915" day, promotional "915" wristbands and UTEP Softball posters will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Tickets can be purchased through the Eisenberg Family Ticket Office by calling (915) 747-UTEP, emailing tickets@utep.edu, visiting www.UTEPMiners.com/Tickets or in person at 201 Glory Road (Brumbelow Building, UTEP Campus), Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  

The matchups will be streamed on CUSA.tv, with live stats also available.     

 
   
Leading Off for the Miners 
    

  • UTEP leads Conference USA in doubles per game (1.53).  

  • UTEP batted .284 through 32 games (which included a Top 5 opponent) paced by four players - three who have 90-plus plate appearances - who were batting at or above the mark (Morales, Favre, Mendez, Dooner). Leading the way is junior Lexi Morales who is hitting .392 on 38 hits with 11 doubles and 16 RBI. She's slugged .536 with a .512 on-base percentage.        

  • Morales is one of eight (8) Miners to have double digit RBIs already in the season, with Savannah Favre leading the way with 26.    

  • Against North Texas, Rylan Dooner went 2-for-9 in the batter's box with a grand slam in game two for a team-high four (4) RBI while Idalis Mendez went 5-for-9, and both had five (5) total bases each. 

  • Ten (10) players have posted at least one home run for the Miners with Favre accounting for six (6).    

  • Two (2) arms combined in the circle against North Texas. Zaylie Calderon combined for 11.0 innings with a team-high 11 strikeouts.    

  • UTEP has had 23 of 25 players see action during a game at some point this season.

NM State  

  • NM State sits at 17-16 on the season       

  • The team is led by Kayla Bowen with a .380 batting average on 38 hits. She is slugging .750 with a .436 on-base percentage. 

  • NM State has utilized six (6) pitchers through 33 games, with Aydenne Brown leading the charge with a team-high 67.2 innings in 20 appearances and 13 starts. Brown (7-4) has a 4.14 ERA with 73 strikeouts, has given up 31 walks, 57 hits and 44 runs allowed (40 earned). As a staff, the Aggies carry a 5.62 ERA, allowing 267 hits and striking out 176. They have given up 52 doubles, five (5) triples and 46 home runs.     

  • NM State leads the all-time series 38-12.
