UTEP T&F to Compete at the Don Kirby Tailwind Open April 20

EL PASO, Texas – The UTEP track and field team will compete in the Don Kirby Tailwind Open at the UNM Track & Field Complex in Albuquerque on Thursday.

The meet will start at 9:30 with the javelin throw at 9:30 a.m. The track events will start at 10:30 a.m. with the women's 3000-meter run, while the men's 3K will start at 10:45 a.m. The field events begin at 11 a.m. with the men's high jump (women to follow). The meet will conclude at 1:50 p.m. with the men's 4x400-meter relay and the women's 4x4 to follow at 2 p.m.

The hammer throw will take place at Kidd Field at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 21.

Making the trip on the men's side are Stephen Carreto (400m H), Ronaldo Griffiths (400m H), Kevin Hewitt (400m), Joshua Hill (400m), Maxwell Kipkosgei (400m), Juan Olmos (3000m), Julio Pacheco Estrada (400m), Mathew Polk (200m), Abdulroauf Rashid (100m, 200m), Michael Sims (800m, 1500m), and Maurice Westmoreland (discus).

Competing for the women are Oghenekaro Brume (200m, 400m), Niesha Burgher (100m, 200m), Angie Calderon (800m), Lizbeth Fierro (shot put, hammer throw), Carshaylah Harrison (400m H, high jump), Asia Hodge (100m, 200m), Ruth Jerubet (1500m), Joan Kimaiyo (3000m), Denae McFarlane (200m), Zani Meaders (400m), Natalie J. Murillo (discus, shot put, hammer throw), Victoria Ovalles (3000m), Nia Reneau (hammer throw), Karen Villa Medina (javelin), and Paris Watson (discus, hammer throw).
