EL PASO - UTEP Softball's Caitlyn Brockway, Pate Cathey, and Lexi Morales have been named Academic All-District selections, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced Tuesday afternoon.  

Caitlyn Brockway | 4.0 Rehabilitation Science 
Brockway holds a 4.0 overall GPA earning her a spot on the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and earning the Commissioner's Academic Medal. The starting catcher has garnered 94 at bats for the Miners, batting .266 with 3 doubles, 7 home runs, 28 RBIs and has reached on a hit-by-pitch five times. This season she had 6 multi-hit games, including 6 hits in a 3-game stretch, to go with a UTEP career-high 4 hits. In two games, she drove in a UTEP career-best four runs as part of 7 multi-RBI games.  

Pate Cathey |4.0 MA Leadership Studies  
The three-time Conference USA All-Academic Team selection had another successful year on and off the field as she is posting a 4.0 overall GPA. Cathey is a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and three-time C-USA Commissioners Academic Medalist. She holds a .213 batting average on the season with 20 hits and is slugging .366 with a .239 on-base percentage. Cathey has recorded 37 total bases and 10 RBI on four home runs, and five doubles.  
   
Lexi Morales | 3.90 Forensic Science  
Morales has balanced a career-year on the field with a very active and successful junior year in the classroom, as she is posting a 3.90 overall GPA. She is a two-time Conference USA All-Academic Team selection and a two-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and Academic Medalist. She posted a .328 batting average on the season with 41 hits and is slugging .448 with a .452 on-base percentage. She has rounded 56 total bases and recorded 16 RBI. Morales leads the team with 27 walks. In league play, the left fielder has a perfect fielding percentage with 41 putouts and one assist.  
 

To qualify for the honor, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50, be a sophomore academically and have a year-in-residence at their current school and have appeared in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. 

The 2022-23 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. 

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 6.
