Radio Broadcast Schedule For 2023 UTEP Football Season Announced

EL PASO, Texas – The radio broadcast schedule for the 2023 UTEP football season was announced Friday, with eight contests airing on 600 AM ESPN and a quartet broadcasting on 95.5 FM KLAQ.
 
UTEP's opener at Jax State will broadcast on 600 AM ESPN before the next four contests will be carried by 95.5 FM KLAQ. The remaining seven regular-season games will return to 600 AM ESPN.
 
Longtime "Voice of the Miners" Jon Teicher is back for his 43rd season as UTEP's play-by-play man, with former Miner WR Cole Freytag returning for his second year as the color analyst. Mando Medina rounds out the crew in what will be his fifth campaign as the sideline reporter.
 
Teicher, who will call his 500th UTEP football game this season, was inducted into the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001. He was also honored in New York City in December of 2017 as the recipient of the Chris Schenkel Award by the National Football Foundation. 
 
Freytag, an El Paso native, played with the Miners from 2012-16. He hauled in 51 career receptions for 788 yards, including a team-leading 520 yards as a senior. 
 
Medina is a longtime sports reporter and enthusiast who has more than 25 of experience in sports broadcasting. He is also the voice of the UTEP women's basketball team.

The Miners kick off the new campaign at Jax State on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 3:30 p.m. MT on CBS Sports Network. 
 
UTEP will open home action on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Incarnate Word at 7 p.m. in the Sun Bowl.
