EL PASO, Texas — UTEP Vice President and Director of Athletics Jim Senter announced on Monday that Dale Brown has been hired as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance.  Brown's first day with UTEP Athletics will be on Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Brown joins the Miners after spending three-plus years (2022-2025) at East Texas A&M.  He began his tenure with the Lions as Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Student Services, prior to being elevated to Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance & Student Services.  Brown sat on the Athletics Executive Team at East Texas A&M and will fill a similar role at UTEP, while serving as the sport administrator for the nationally renowned Miner indoor volleyball program.

"I am incredibly honored to join UTEP Athletics in this exciting time in its history," Brown said.  "UTEP has a rich tradition and a passionate community, and I am thrilled to contribute to the continued growth and success of our student-athletes, coaches and staff.  I look forward to working alongside such a dedicated staff to help elevate the Miners to new heights -- on the field, in the classroom, and throughout the El Paso community."

"We had an exceptional group of candidates for this position," Senter said.  "Dale's experience speaks for itself.  He has impeccable academic credentials with a JD degree and brings the added expertise of leading East Texas A&M's transition to NCAA Division I.  He has a diverse resume, having worked at five institutions in five states and serving as a Senior Associate AD and sport supervisor.  His strong background in the compliance field will further bolster our staff."

In addition to serving as Senior Compliance Administrator during East Texas A&M's reclassification from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I, Brown oversaw the compliance office, and served as the athletics liaison with the Office of Financial Aid, Office of the Registrar, Office of Admissions, International Office, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, and the Housing Office.  He also oversaw the department's Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) program while serving as sport administrator for the women's soccer and softball teams.

He spent four years (2018-22) at Weber State.  He started as Compliance Coordinator before being promoted to Associate Director of Compliance.

Brown also worked at UCF as Compliance Assistant (2017-2018), Fairmont State as Compliance and Internal Operations intern (2015), and North Carolina Wilmington as Compliance and Student-Athlete Services intern (2014).

He earned his Juris Doctorate from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2016.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Southern Virginia in 2013, where he was a scholarship student-athlete as a member of the baseball team.  He also served on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and worked part-time in the Sports Information department while at Southern Virginia.
